     THE KIND OF SERVICE YOU DON'T NEED!!!

Update: 14/01/2008 Stagecoach Bus grounded
Update: 23/01/2008 Route 68 to be re-routed once more

How much more damage are you going to cause??

Leamington Stagecoach bus company will not accept responsibility for the damage caused to not one, but both cars in our household in the space of two months since this new temporary bus route was adopted - see for yourself in the pictures and make your own mind up.

The reason is simple, there is no tangible evidence i.e. a witness or a camera watching the hit and run accident/offences occurring. Though it is plain to see to everyone's eye how the damage was caused the Police and even Solicitors can do nothing. No wonder this country has declining values if international companies can do whatever they please regardless of morals.

Even though Leamington Stagecoach Bus depot manager Sam Dixon has stated "It Certainly looks like our colours" when the first car was damaged, they would not accept responsibility. When the second car was damaged Stagecoach did not even attempt to respond. All this just seems to make a complete mockery of the law.

We have lived on this road for 3 years now and have never had a problem with hit and run incidents, especially coincidentally with high sided red and blue coloured vehicles. Stagecoach Bus spokesman Adam Rideout said he could not comment to the local newspaper on whether the damage was caused by Stagecoach buses but said Warwickshire County Council were responsible for changing the bus route. Click here for Leamington and Warwick Courier full report.

This new route was adopted since the local residents of Verden Avenue applied pressure on the Warwickshire County Council to have the service taken away as it proved unpopular. Note the original route has no requirement for on street parking, has 1/5 of dwellings and to my knowledge no accidents had occurred. So here's the idea that the local council came up with - move the route round the corner where there is a requirement for on street parking and send the Stagecoach buses up a new hazardous, more narrow route, upset 5 times the number of residents, cause damage and then say it's not our fault. So after this, you may have thought the route would have been moved back to the safer and more practical route.

On two occasions now I have heard, 'It is not in our interests to hide or cover things up' - in which case I guess it is purely a coincidence!!! - Try looking at the pictures again as it is so blindingly obvious how the damage was caused.

Councillor Dave Matthews has cleared things up for us though now, the problem is not with the Stagecoach buses but with the residents parking at the side of the road in front of there own houses in the evening - how dare we!

You only need to do a search on the internet to find that Stagecoach are the first to complain when people vandalise their buses and then have full support of the police, Council and Lawyers. But size matters, how dare we even suggest that this damage was caused by Stagecoach Bus company without any tangible evidence especially when this section of the route is fully subsidised by the Warwickshire County Council.

So in essence, we the tax payers are paying for the buses to drive into our road, cause damage and then pay for any damage caused by us paying for them to do it - surely the residents could have been consulted first, I'm sure we wouldn't have agreed to this - isn't democracy great!

UPDATED 23 January 2008

To view a copy of the reply to a letter from Mr Plaskitt MP for Leamington and Warwick on the subject of the local bus service and the reasons that Narrow Hall Meadow is part of the bus route from Dave Matthews >click here<

"Following discussions with Stagecoach, it has been decided to re-route service 68 via Hampton Road only with effect from 18 February 2008. This is due primarily to the difficulty bus drivers are having negotiating the current route at certain times of day. The intention is not to reinstate the route in Chase Meadow until the road network permits through operation between Hampton road and Stratford Road." - Dave Matthews - Operations Manager - Warwick District Council

SUMMARY - No compromise and No admissions;

Good news;

Finally recognised the fact that this route was too hazardous and damage was being caused albeit only a primary reason was given.

Bad news;

Possibility of more incidents happening until the route is changed.

Instead of re-instating the safer and more practical route of Verden Avenue, a decision has been made (though no person has been named as to who made the decision) to bypass the whole estate now leaving those who do use the bus in a not very happy situation.

Still no acceptance of responsibility/liability for the damage caused and the cost of repair.

They came, caused carnage and will soon be leaving without batting an eyelid - Unbelievable and certainly not the kind of service we asked for or even chose to pay for!

Is this road really big enough?? Narrow Hall Meadow - the clue is in the name!

Notice the red, blue and the rivets on the bus

99.9% no customers waiting at a bus stop in Narrow Meadows!! Buses travel an extra mile for this as advised to do so by Warwickshire County Council - What are they really doing about pollution and the environment??

STAGECOACH BUS GROUNDED ON THE KERB!!!

14/01/2008 - At approx. 1700hrs a Stagecoach Bus actually grounded itself on the kerb at the bottom of the road, local builders help to get the bus back on the road again with the use of a Manitou fork lift truck! - how could this have happened if the road is perfectly wide enough? Also, the kerb has been damaged - who will pay for the kerb to be repaired - the tax payers?

Thanks to all those who provided constructive comments on the message board and those who emailed Warwickshire County Council and Stagecoach. It has now been removed as the issue of re-routing the 68 bus has now been acknowledged and addressed although without compromise or admission of liability.

The website however will remain as there has been no acceptance of responsibility or liability for the damage caused to my own vehicles - though again blindingly obvious how the damage was caused. Which has left us with the cost of insurance excess for repair and loss of no claims bonuses. Hopefully the cost of repair to the kerb the bus damaged will be accepted by Stagecoach and not Warwickshire County Council (The local tax payers!)
